There are fears that subprime mortgage problems will spread to ALT-A lenders. The market of ALT-A borrowers is primarily loans where borrowers lack documentation or had minor credit problems in the past. American Home Mortgage and Impac Mortgage, both ALT-A lenders, fell sharply yesterday. Luminent Mortgage, who buys these ALT-A loans fell 5,2%.
